I want to start off first by saying that dogs should always sleep inside night time, whether its summer or winter. Did you know that if your dog/s sleeps outside, the risk for them to be poisoned are more than when they sleep inside. They are social animals and love being around their humans.
- Some Tips for the Cold, Rainy Winter Months.
Have some beds readily available for them, in the kitchen, bedroom and lounge. Some dogs like to be tucked under a blanket in their bed when going to bed, others, if allowed, will sleep with you under covers against you.
- From a early age, get them used to dog jackets or jerseys for them, especially when its freezing.
- If you have to go out shopping, visiting friends, etc. and the dogs has to be outside, ensure there is shelter available, with blankets to keep them warm and to protect them from the weather.
- Remember, if they have to sleep on the cold floors, it is in the long run damaging for them, especially the joints. They can develop arthritis, joint problems, etc.
With warm regards,
